This exclusive one night only engagement follows the hysterical journey of Mary Ann Hedderson navigating her way through life. Hedderson, who has been compared to greats such as John Leguizamo and Whoopi Goldberg, will keep you in stitches as she transforms herself into illuminating, neurotic and ultimately hysterical characters from her big fat Italian-Irish family. Watch out for Grandfather, a retired boxing champ, whose obsession with the Food Network has gotten the best of him. Hear the tall tales of gamble-loving Grandmother who could "knock anyone on their ass." Reminisce with Dad, a self-proclaimed hippie, recalling his stoner college years as an Art History major. And you don't wanna miss the grand finale where Mary Ann recreates her own birth with all seven characters involved.
“Go Ahead…Laugh” was originally conceived as a ten minute monologue performed at La Mama Etc…The response was so positive that the piece was developed further with Mary Ann lending her incredible comic touch to the development of each of the characters. The following year “Go Ahead…Laugh” was performed at a sold out engagement at La Mama Etc.. From there the piece was picked up by the Gotham Comedy club where it repeatedly played to loud applause and sold out audiences.
