The Irondale Ensemble Project is as close as we come these days to the Elizabethan acting companies that once presented Shakespeare’s plays to the Earl of Leicester, Sir Francis Drake and the Virgin Queen of England. ...What is on offer is the miracle of the word made flesh. I wish you joy in it.” —Lewis Lapham, editor of Lapham’s Quarterly

Help Irondale Make a Difference

Thanks to you, Irondale has expanded from an itinerant theater company to one with a gorgeous, overflowing home. With the Irondale Center, we are slowly transitioning to become more dependent on earned income. But we are a not-for-profit, and don't want to have to charge exorbitant prices. Theater should be affordable for everybody. Foundation, corporate, and government grants are drying up. Irondale could not exist without you.

Your support of our work in any capacity is greatly appreciated. Below is a list of our major immediate needs. You can earmark your gift for any of these vital expenses.

Support an Artist:
Irondale is one of the only permanent ensembles in the US. As such, we are committed to employing artists as artists for full time work each season. Salaries are the most important expense in our budget. An individual or a group of donors can support a Irondale artist for a year of teaching in high schools, rehearsing and performing in Irondale’s new work: Murrow’s Boys. Cost: $28,000/artist- includes health insurance and Actors Equity Pension Fund payments.

Support A Full Day of Arts Education:
Irondale artists spend 2 days each week in high schools, working with teachers and students using theater as a teaching and learning tool. We help students toward academic success, enhance literacy and develop social skills needed to succeed outside of school. At the same time we offer a high quality theater training experience taught by superb ensemble artists. Full day of workshops reaching up to 120 students and 4 teachers, cost: $1,250

Support A Young Company Theater Artist:
Teenagers from all over Brooklyn (and a few from other boroughs) come to the Irondale Center weekly for free training in theater and play development. Each student is invited based on willingness to learn and commit to the program and they all have enormous untapped talents. They are training to become their own ensemble that will perform at the Irondale Center. Support 1 teenager for a full year of training - $5,000
