Big Box of Distractions

Once a month Irondale presents a unique
interactive theater adventure just for families!

Please join us on the second Saturday of each month for Irondale’s Big Box of Distractions. Create puppets. Learn about clowning and acrobatics. Recite Shakespeare. Explore yoga, historical events like the Abolitionist movement and even current political struggles like the fight to protect New York City’s water. This series of community and family-oriented distractions promises to engage kids and adults of all ages. Watch, participate, learn, share and commune with some of NYC’s most innovative artists. Workshops range from 45-90 minutes and begin at 2pm. Tickets are only $10 for adults & $5 for kids. All ages are always welcome!

SPLASH! A Theater Games and Art-Making Workshop

Strike Anywhere Performance Ensemble will offer a hands-on art and theater-making workshop for families (kids ages 6-106 welcome!)

By asking participants to share their stories and memories of water Strike Anywhere will lead the group in the creation of a live improvised piece based on those stories.

Some folks will be actors, some dancers, some artists, and some who knows! But everyone will come together to construct a short spontaneous piece that reflects us all! All participants will receive discount passes to Strike Anywhere’s upcoming show at Irondale, SAME RIVER 2/23-3/3. Ways to take further action to protect Brooklyn’s water will be on hand

  • June 9 – Youth Theater Exchange with The People’s Theater Project and the Irondale Young Company

All material is appropriate for children ten-years-old and up.
