The Irondale Ensemble Project is as close as we come these days to the Elizabethan acting companies that once presented Shakespeare’s plays to the Earl of Leicester, Sir Francis Drake and the Virgin Queen of England. ...What is on offer is the miracle of the word made flesh. I wish you joy in it.” —Lewis Lapham, editor of Lapham’s Quarterly

Improv Audition Information

OPEN CALL FOR IMPROVISERS

6PM–9PM February 24th at the Irondale Center

Please check in at the desk in the upstairs lobby. Be prepared to demonstrate scene work, group games, understanding of ensemble, ability to devise new forms, and personal integrity.

Please bring headshot and resume to the audition.

DO NOT MAIL THEM TO THE IRONDALE CENTER.

The Irondale Center is auditioning trained improvisers to perform in a one night showing of long- and mid-form improvisation. Directed by Nolan Kennedy, Irondale Ensemble.

We are trying to establish the Irondale Center as a home to improv performance and training. We are hoping the performance to be a 90 minute, all improv show with a cast of 8 improvisers.

We want to be forthright in saying two things:

1) We cannot pay the performers but we can offer them the chance to perform for a diverse, artistic audience AND future opportunities to perform at the Irondale Center;

2) This is a "bringer" show, which means is we’ll ask the performers for $15 to play in the show OR allow them to play if they bring 5 friends who would pay the door price of $5.

Any further questions should be directed to improv@irondale.org (Subject: Improv Aud).
