Building Voices. Nurturing Citizen Artists.Help Keep Irondale's Youth Programs Free

Every week, young people come to Irondale looking for different things: a creative outlet, a sense of belonging, a challenge, a community.

Through Junior Company, Young Company and Tech Track, they discover much more than theatre.

They learn how to collaborate. How to listen. How to communicate with confidence. How to think critically, take creative risks, and support one another.

At Irondale, we call this becoming a citizen artist.

A citizen artist understands that art is created in relationship—with community, with ideas, and with one another. Through theatre, young people learn to see the world from perspectives other than their own, building empathy, understanding, and a deeper sense of connection to the people around them.

These are skills that help them grow not only as artists, but as engaged and thoughtful citizens.

For years, our youth programs have been offered free of charge, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of participation.

This year, the grant funding that has sustained these programs is coming to an end.

With your support, we can continue providing free access to transformative theatre education for the next generation.

WHY IT MATTERS

The skills students develop at Irondale extend far beyond the stage:

- Collaboration

- Communication

- Critical thinking

- Creativity

- Empathy

- Confidence

In a world that often feels divided, young people need spaces where they can learn to listen, connect, and work together.

That's what happens every day at Irondale.
