"Priscilla Dreams the Answer" is the latest production from Irondale’s Young Company, created through a collaborative ensemble process rooted in the improvisational techniques of Viola Spolin—the same theater games and training methods used by Irondale’s professional ensemble. The students chose the script and worked on it with their teaching artists during the year. The result reflects the creativity, playfulness, and ensemble-driven storytelling at the heart of the program.
In this fantastical play written by Walt McGough, Priscilla, a lonely hobby shop employee with an outsized capacity for empathy, receives mysterious 3AM phone calls from aliens asking her to save the world. Turning to the only expert she trusts—her favorite game show contestant, Simon—Priscilla embarks on a surreal journey through grief, love, and the search for meaning before time runs out for both worlds.
Behind the scenes, Irondale’s Tech Track students bring the production to life, designing and executing the technical elements of the show—including sets, costumes, props, and lighting—ensuring every moment onstage is fully realized through their craftsmanship and collaboration.
For more than 40 years, Irondale has been a place where artists and audiences matter.
